Don,
I agree with all of your comments about the River Des Peres. About 10 years ago, my grandmother used to live near by, and I would pass by the river each time I went to her house. A few years ago, when my grandmother moved, I stopped traveling out that way, so I stopped seeing the river as much as I did when I was a child. Fast forward to this year, when the new casino opened up, I saw the River Des Peres for the first time in like, seven years, and noticed that it has changed significantly., along with that general area. Everything looks so run-down and unkept. What I remember seeing on the way to my grandmother’s house is completely different from what I see today. I agree, the river looks like a dump, despite the newly-constructed bridges around Gravois. And to spend a lot of money on recreation around the River, like the bridges for biking and the parks, seems a little out-of-place since the river looks like garbage. I would like to see a major improvement made to the River Des Peres because it does look like a sewer. It also doesn’t help the river’s appeal if sewage drains are visible from the highway..
